Why Play Therapy Can Change Your Life

Not another night of tantrums!

It’s time for dinner. You’ve had a long day.  Your child refuses to eat what you’ve offered and you snap at him.   He starts screaming louder and the tornado of tantrums begin.

Nothing you try makes it better.   You wonder if anything will.

You’re tired of this and think to yourself; This parenting thing is impossible!

Your pediatrician suggests Play Therapy.  You have no idea what this is and wonder if it’s just another dead end.

What’s Play Therapy?

Play therapy is a type of counseling, specific for children ages 3-12.

Play therapy helps children to communicate, process difficult emotions and learn new behaviors through play.

It teaches children coping skills, gives insight into the whys of their behavior and gives parents real-life skills they can use with their children.

Play therapy improves children’s behavior and gives parents better skills to deal with tough behaviors.

Play therapy works!

Who’s Play Therapy for?

Play therapy is a fantastic option for many parents and children, but it’s not for everyone.   Having the wrong fit counselor or type of counseling can be really frustrating.  I don’t want you to waste your time spinning your wheels.

Below are some signs that Play Therapy might be a great fit.

  • Is your child between the ages of 3-12?
  • Does your child become nonverbal when upset or anxious?
  • Does your child shutdown often?
  • Is your child’s behavior disrupting the household and daily functioning of your family?
  • Are you struggling with communicating with your child?
  • Is your child acting out at school?
  • Is your child’s behavior causing problems in your marriage?
  • Have you seen increased bed wetting?
  • Do you feel your child throws tantrums that are more frequent or intense than what seems ‘normal’?

If you’ve answered YES to any of the questions, play therapy might be very helpful in your situation.

Registered Play Therapists have specialized training to help parents and children through Play Therapy to see powerful, positive change.    They help people work through difficult situations that seem impossible.

A play therapist can help kids to be less angry and parents to be less frustrated.

Children want to be understood.  Parents want to feel successful.

Play Therapy can help.
