About Me:
Hi! My name is Sarah Jane Landsaw and am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Dwayne Frei, LPC-S. I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Management from Texas A&M University and my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. Before entering private practice, I worked in community mental health, child welfare, and family advocacy. Those experiences deepened my passion for helping children, adults, and families heal from trauma and reinforced my belief that relationships have the power to shape us and to heal us. I believe that when individuals and families experience greater connection, understanding, and emotional safety, the impact extends far beyond the therapy room, creating healthier families, stronger communities, and lasting change for generations to come. My experience also includes working in partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs with adolescents and adults experiencing more acute mental health concerns, including trauma, suicidality, addiction, and substance use. This work strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, trauma-informed care for clients across all stages of healing.
Maybe you've spent so long taking care of everyone else that you're no longer sure what you need. Maybe your mind never seems to slow down, you're stuck in the same relationship patterns, or you find yourself wondering why you keep reacting in ways that don't feel like the person you want to be. Or maybe you're a parent wondering why your once-happy child seems anxious, overwhelmed, or withdrawn, and despite your best efforts, nothing you've tried seems to help. Perhaps you're exhausted from holding everything together, carrying the weight of past experiences, or simply surviving instead of truly living.
The truth is, many of the ways we cope once served an important purpose. They helped us survive difficult experiences and protected us when we needed them most. But over time, those same patterns can begin to keep us stuck. My hope is to create a space where you don't have to filter, perform, or have everything figured out. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, your child, or your family, we'll work together to make sense of your story, honor the ways you've learned to survive, and create new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more authentic, connected, and aligned with the life you want to live.
My approach is relational, experiential, and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on the nervous system and the mind-body connection. I integrate EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), play therapy, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), parts-informed work, and somatic approaches to create a therapy experience that is tailored to each client's unique needs. Therapy often looks like slowing down, becoming curious about your thoughts, emotions, and body's responses, learning to make room for difficult experiences rather than fighting against them, and practicing new ways of responding that help you feel more grounded, connected, and aligned with the life you want to live.
With children and adolescents, I use play, creativity, and relationship to help them express emotions that can be difficult to put into words. Whether your child is anxious, shutting down, having frequent meltdowns, refusing to talk, struggling with friendships, overwhelmed by school, or your family feels stuck in constant power struggles over things like homework, routines, or screen time, I strive to create a space where your child feels safe, understood, and empowered to grow. I also partner closely with parents to better understand what their child's behavior is communicating, strengthen connection, and build practical tools that foster more confidence, calm, and joy at home.
With adults, I enjoy helping clients heal from childhood wounds, trauma, and life experiences that continue to shape the present. Together, we might explore people-pleasing, perfectionism, relationship struggles, anxiety, burnout, grief, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Through EMDR, somatic work, and parts-informed therapy, my goal is to help you move beyond survival mode, reconnect with yourself, and build healthier relationships with the people you love.
With couples and families, I strive to help strengthen communication, deepen emotional connection, and move beyond cycles of conflict or disconnection. Whether you're navigating parenting challenges, blended family dynamics, co-parenting, or simply feeling stuck in the same patterns, my goal is to help create greater understanding, emotional safety, and lasting connection.
When I'm not in the therapy room, you can usually find me practicing yoga, walking the trails with my dogs, browsing antique stores, trying a new coffee shop, or spending time with family and friends. I believe healing doesn't only happen in therapy. It also happens through meaningful relationships, moments of play, time in nature, and slowing down enough to be present with ourselves and the people we love.
As much as I love this work, I'm also just a person navigating life alongside everyone else. I know that asking for help can feel vulnerable, and finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. If you're considering therapy, I'd love the chance to connect, hear a little about your story, and see if we'd be a good fit. And if I'm not the right person for what you're looking for, I'm always happy to help point you toward someone who might be. No matter what, I'm glad you're here, and I hope you've already taken a meaningful first step simply by beginning your search.
