About Me:
Welcome! My name is Ryann, and I’m a clinical intern supervised by Traci Marant, LPC-S, RPT. I am passionate about helping clients actualize their gifts and values through increased self-awareness of one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I utilize theoretical orientations including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic, Gestalt, and play therapy. More importantly, I strive to create an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Counseling can be challenging, and it is of utmost importance to me that each client feels the safety to be themselves and take the risks required for growth.
My academic background is in psychology (B.S. from Kansas State University) and kinesiology (M.S. from Kansas State University). As a former professional track athlete and athletics coach, I have great appreciation for the intersection between mind, body, and spirit. Concepts from polyvagal theory (think nervous system) and the neurosequential model of therapeutics (think neurobiology and developmental stages) are often incorporated into my counseling approach. I believe in the importance of tuning into the messages communicated by the physical body, as well as using movement and mindfulness strategies to regulate stress.
My work as a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach inspired my pursuit to obtain my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Messiah University. I truly love this journey, and I am appreciative for every client that is part of it. In my spare time, I can often be found playing in the backyard with my 3 littles, running, podcasting, or playing soccer with friends.
