About Me:

Welcome! My name is Ryann, and I’m a clinical intern supervised by Traci Marant, LPC-S, RPT. I am passionate about helping clients and couples actualize their gifts and values through increased self-awareness of one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The main theoretical orientations that I use with individuals include parts work, CBT/ACT, and motivational interviewing.  Play therapy, somatic therapy, and expressive arts therapy are frequently integrated into my counseling sessions too. Most importantly, I strive to create an environment where clients feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Counseling can be challenging, and it is of utmost importance to me that each client feels the safety to be themselves and take the risks required for growth.

My academic background is in psychology (B.S. from Kansas State University) and kinesiology (M.S. from Kansas State University). As a former professional track athlete and collegiate athletics coach, I have great appreciation for the intersection between mind, body, and spirit. I’m a committed life-long learner with interest in polyvagal theory (think nervous system) and its application to symptom-reduction for anxiety, depression, shame, and emotional overwhelm. I believe in the importance of tuning into the messages communicated by the physical body, as well as using movement and mindfulness strategies to regulate stress and heal trauma.

My work as a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach inspired my pursuit to obtain my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Messiah University. I truly love this journey, and I am appreciative for every client that is part of it. In my spare time, I can often be found playing in the backyard with my 3 kids, running, listening to podcasts, or playing soccer with friends.
