About Me:

Hello! My name is Kristen and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed to work with clients in Texas and in Colorado. I work with adolescents, teens, adults, and couples.

My counseling style is unique because I thrive on bringing my authentic self into sessions. I believe it is imperative to meet you as a human first while allowing my clinical knowledge to support our process. I want my realness to guide my expertise. I love walking through life with my clients and find it to be an incredible blessing that you chose me to help you through life’s tough (or joyous!) moments.

I come from the lens that our history largely affects our present. I have dedicated my life to exploring how our relationships with others impact our journey with ourselves in profound ways. My goal is to meet you where you are. Sometimes that might look like your cheerleader. Other times, I might serve as your mirror and show you a reflection of yourself to help challenge you and bring you closer to the goals you come into counseling with. I am a Christian counselor, but I believe you will find my therapy practice comfortable regardless of your spiritual beliefs.

Whether I am working with adolescents, teens, or adults I am a passionate advocate of my clients and invest wholeheartedly in my therapeutic relationship with them. In our collaborative work together I will meet you where you are with authenticity and respect; compassion, humor, and humility will become a part of our working relationship.

One of the ways I want to be an advocate for you is through training I am currently going through called Discernment Counseling. Discernment Counseling is helping two individuals gain clarity and confidence in their decision-making about the future of their marriage. This deeper understanding is based on what’s happened to the marriage and how each person contributed to the problems. How do you know if Discernment Counseling is right for you? Discernment Counseling is for the mixed-agenda couple where one is leaning out of the relationship and is reluctant to work on it in therapy, and the other wants to save the relationship. This method of therapy is not like marriage counseling but a precursor to it. It is a short-term approach (1-5 sessions) that happens weekly. A decision is made each time whether to meet again. If this sounds like something that fits your season of life, I am happy to schedule a 15-minute call with you to share in more detail about the discernment counseling experience.
