About Me:
I'm Amanda, a Licensed Associate Social Worker supervised by Mary Duffy. Shortly after receiving my early childhood/special education bachelors degree, I received my masters degree from Baylor University in Clinical Social Work. Starting with Early Intervention and Behavioral Therapy, I’ve been practicing in the field of counseling for over 6 years now. I have experience working with parents, adults, children and teens in group and individual settings. It excites me to help clients navigate their mental health journey and I’m beyond passionate over what I do.
As a counselor, I really enjoy problem solving and brainstorming ways to help people meet their mental health goals, heal from traumas, and gain a sense of autonomy back in their lives. I help guide parents with their children who may be struggling, and also educate them on how to continue practice in their homes. Additionally, I help kids that are having mental health challenges or have disabilities, by using a variety of different modalities and methods such as: Play Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I use a strength based approach and encourage all of my clients to find their inner strengths and natural coping skills. We create our treatment plan together and work as a team to embody the therapeutic relationship.
I live in Georgetown with my husband our (7) 4 legged babies! I really enjoy spending time with my family and anything that has to do with animals!
